Bridge Brand Food Services Ltd. began as a family farm-based gardening operation during the 1930's under the name "F.M. Tamagi and Sons." The company grew and sold its own fresh produce door to door to the homes and businesses around Lethbridge, Alberta. This market gardening business grew steadily on a reputation of high quality. Nearing the end of the 1940's, the family decided to focus their sole concern on the marketing and distribution of produce in Calgary. The Bridge Brand Produce Company partnership was born. • The first warehouse built in 1948 was 5,000 square feet consisting of 2 truck bays and three employees. • 1962, Bridge Brand seized the opportunity to fully commit their business in the newly emerging institutional restaurant and hotel industry. • In 1970, a branch operation was started in Red Deer, Alberta. • In 1973, the Bridge Brand Produce Company changed its name to Bridge Brand Foodservices to reflect its ever expanding product line for the foodservice industry. The company also relocated to a 116,000 square foot warehouse/office complex. |
• In 1984, Bridge Brand opened its first distribution facility in Edmonton, Alberta. • In 1988, Bridge Brand purchased Simon & Reimann Food Distributors, and through the acquisition now had a distribution centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. • In 1990, Bridge Brand opened re-distribution centres in Saskatoon and Regina, Saskatchewan. • In 1995, expanded the Calgary distribution centre with the purchase of a 70,000 square foot facility adjacent to their current building. Bridge Brand had grown to become one of the largest independent foodservice distributors in Canada. The only true total supply foodservice source in the industry, servicing over 5,000 customers in Western Canada. Bridge Brand's service area extends across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northern Ontario, into Eastern British Columbia and as far north as Yellowknife and Whitehorse in the N.W.T.
